There's no 'treat' in a tricky Halloween forecast that includes SNOW

"Temperatures will moderate for the second half of the week and into the weekend."

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Trick or treaters will need either a warm costume or will be wearing coats on top of their costumers as Mother Nature has Halloween weather masqueraded more like Thanksgiving.

Temperatures won't get much beyond 40 degrees across the Buffalo-Niagara region for Halloween.

"Chilly air crossing the still relatively warm lake waters will generate some nuisance rain and wet snow showers today that will push north towards Buffalo and Watertown," forecasters at the National Weather Service in Buffalo say. "Otherwise it will be partly cloudy and chilly with temperatures more typical of Thanksgiving than Halloween. More widespread mixed rain and snow showers can then be expected tonight as a robust disturbance will pass through the region.

For the most part, any snow will just be a nuisance and a reminder of what's to come, however there is the possibility of some accumulation in some locations. "In fact, an inch or two of snow will be possible across the higher terrain of the Southern Tier," forecasters say.

After one more chilly day on Wednesday, temperatures will moderate for the second half of the week and into the weekend.
