Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - After a record snowfall at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport Thursday, the lake effect snow has shifted its target well to the south into the southern tier through Saturday.
"We set a new daily record for the date," said National Weather Service meteorologist Kirk Apfel. "We got 17.2 inches of snow on January 6th which is a record for the date and actually the 12th most daily snowfall of all time."
Lake Effect Snow Warnings expired overnight for the Buffalo metro area while a Winter Weather Advisory is up for the southern portion of Erie County Friday and Saturday. Lake Effect Snow Warnings are posted for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties through Saturday as well.
