One of the underlying tones that was set by the Democrats during confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett was an objection to the words "Sexual Preference."
Why has the term caused an uproar with some people?
Those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community and advocates alike say "sexual preference" should have no place in our everyday lives. Barrett referenced the term when asked about a 2015 SCOTUS decision that granted the right to same-sex marriage.
Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono objected to the use of those words with a statement toward Barrett that said, "Even though you didn't give a direct answer I think your response did speak volumes. Not once, but twice, you used the term sexual preference to describe those in the LGBTQ community. And let me make clear, sexual preference is an offensive and outdated term."
You've got to be kidding me, right? Seriously? This is what you care about in the overall prospective? It's sad some people can't see thing for what they are.
