Gastonia Police are investigating a report of a driver pointing a gun at a women near Gastonia Municipal Airport on Wednesday.
According to WCNC, the unidentified woman was waiting to attend to a nearby MAGA rally held by President Trump when the incident happened.
Police say the women was about to cross the street at the intersection of Union Road and Robinwood Road before 1 p.m. when a white car pulled up to the stop light near her. The driver made eye contact with the woman before holding out a handgun, turning it sideways, pointing at her, and yelling "Bang" before driving away.
The woman, who bought a Make American Great Again sign at a merchandise stand right before the incident, believes it happened because of her political memorabilia piece.
"I don't want to die over a metal sign that says Make American Great," the woman told WCNC. "I've got grandbabies that I would like to watch go to school and graduate. I mean, it scared me. It really scared me,"
Gastonia Police say they were unable to track down the driver. They're investigating the matter and no arrests have been made yet.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000.
