As of Sunday morning, thousands throughout the state have been left in the dark, WWL-TV reported. Entergy reports that just over 68,700 customers are without power. The majority of those affected are in Jefferson, Plaquemines, and Orleans parishes.
Cleco is reporting that just over 5,600 customers are without power on the Northshore, with most of the company's outages around St. Tammany.
Outages across much of Southeast Louisiana are expected to continue as Hurricane Ida makes its dissent on land. Some parish officials have said these outages could last for days or weeks.
Around 10,000 linemen will be deployed to start restoring power when the storm passes. The damage of Hurricane Zeta, which is supposed to be less than the damage Ida will cause, left tens of thousands of Louisiana residents without power for over a week.

The hurricane is expected to make landfall sometime on Sunday afternoon as one of the strongest storms to hit the coast of Louisiana.
