NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — It's hard to remember the last time a TV promotion had the impact of what CBS2's creative department put together as a goof.
If you live in the New York metropolitan area you've probably seen the commercial promoting WCBS-TV's weathercaster Lonnie Quinn.
It features a group of kids playing with a Lonnie Quinn action figure complete with umbrella and a toy version of the Mobile 2 Weather Lab.
"It was really meant to take the viewers from my era on a walk down memory lane to the TV commercials on Saturday morning that they watched when they were kids and it's even done with that film over the screen so looks like you're watching video as opposed to anything digital," Quinn said.
Bruce Brauer, the creative mastermind behind the commercial, called the promotion "a good type of disruptor ad that will stand out from the clutter."
Quinn said when he first saw it he couldn't believe his eyes.
Now, it's taken on a life of its own.
