NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for coronavirus.

The 63-year-old Oscar winner said he and his wife decided to get tested while in Australia after exhibiting cold-like symptoms.

"We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive," Hanks wrote on Twitter on Wednesday night.

Hanks said they will be observed while under isolation "for as long as public health and safety requires."

The couple were reportedly in Australia for a a pre-production meeting for an upcoming Elvis Presley biopic.

Warner Bros. issued a statement saying they are working with Australian health agencies to identify and contact anyone who may have come in direct contact with the couple.

"The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world," the company said.

The news came as President Donald Trump announced he was suspending all travel between the U.S. and Europe, excluding the United Kingdom, for 30 days starting midnight Friday and the NBA said it was suspending its season until further notice after a Utah Jazz player tested positive for COVID-19.
