WESTHAMPTON BEACH, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — A 13-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday after he threatened to "shoot" at his Long Island middle school, police said.

The boy, whose name was withheld due to his age, allegedly told other students and Westhampton Beach Middle School officials that he was going to "shoot the school" because he was annoyed and frustrated with other students.
Westhampton Beach Police said he also referenced last Tuesday's shooting in Uvalde, Texas, which killed 19 elementary school children and two teachers.
The student was allegedly frustrated and told other students and officials that he was being picked on and that this was the only way to solve the problem.
The incident was reported by school officials to the school resource officer and then investigated by the Criminal Investigations Unit and Southampton Town Police detectives, police said. He was arrested around 1:30 p.m.
The boy was charged with making a terroristic threat and aggravated harassment.
Although there have been no other threats, Chief Steven J. McManus said the Westhampton Beach Police Department will increase its presence in the school district.
This arrest comes two days after 18-year-old Oketa Orlando Blair Jr. was arrested for "[expressing] his desire to conduct a violent act towards students and faculty members" at Westbury High School, Nassau County police said.
Last week, a 16-year-old student was arrested for allegedly using Instagram to threaten a mass shooting at Bellport High School.
Both are also facing the same charges as the 13-year-old.
