
PATERSON, N.J. (WCBS 880) – A 15-year-old girl was killed, and four men wounded, in a shooting in Paterson on Wednesday night, authorities said.

Gunfire erupted around 10:20 p.m. near Madison and Essex streets, according to Paterson police and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 15-year-old lying in front of 36 Essex St. with a gunshot wound to her head.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene. She has only been identified as a resident of North Haledon.

Four men—ages 32, 29, 26 and 21—also suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds in the shooting.
The men, all residents of Paterson, were hospitalized at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.
Authorities haven’t released a potential motive for the shooting or said who they believe the target was.
No arrests have been reported Thursday amid an ongoing investigation.
