NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Twenty-one firefighters were taken to area hospitals after battling a fire at an apartment building in Harlem on Saturday morning, officials said.

Seventeen of the firefighters suffered minor injuries. Four others had more serious injuries, but all of the firefighters were in stable condition.

No injuries to residents were reported.

The fire erupted around 7:30 a.m. at a six-story building on W. 115th Street, near Morningside Park, on one of the coldest days of the winter so far.

Thirty-nine units and 168 FDNY members responded to the four-alarm fire, officials said. It was brought under control shortly after 10 a.m.

Citizen App video shows flames and smoke pouring out of the windows of the building. Officials said the fire started on the first floor and spread to the second floor.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. It’s not known how many people were displaced.
