3 teens arrested after robbing boy of bike on LI

MERRICK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) - Three teenagers were arrested for allegedly robbing a boy of his bike on Long Island Sunday evening, Nassau County police said.

According to detectives, at 6:17 p.m., a 13-year-old boy was riding his OM Flyer bicycle on Merrick Avenue in Merrick where he was approached by three teens, ages 14, 15 and 16 riding their own bicycles.

The teens knocked the victim off of his bicycle, causing damage to the wheel, and then took his bike, leaving theirs behind before fleeing scene. No injuries were reported.

Police spotted the teens a short time later on the platform of the Merrick LIRR station and placed into custody.

The bicycle was recovered and returned back to the victim.

Two teens are being charged with robbery and grand larceny and will appear at Nassau County Family Court on Monday, October 2.

Another teen was charged with robbery, grand larceny and criminal mischief.

He will be arraigned on Monday, October 2.
