Woman, 9-month-old granddaughter found dead after Hamilton Township fire

HAMILTON, N.J. (WCBS 880) — A woman in her 40s and her 9-month-old granddaughter have died in an early-morning fire that left three other people injured in New Jersey.

The fire broke out in a 2 1/2 story home around 3:40 a.m. on the 200 block of Woodlawn Avenue in Hamilton Township, causing a partial roof collapse at the woodframe duplex.

The baby and her grandmother were found dead inside the residence. Cause of death has not been released.

Three other people are hospitalized.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Arson Unit, the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Hamilton Police Division.
