Actor Rick Moranis hurt in unprovoked attack on UWS

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Actor Rick Moranis was the victim of an unprovoked and violent attack that was caught on video on the Upper West Side, according to reports.

The NYPD said the 67-year-old was walking on Central Park West near West 70th Street just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday when a man punched him in the head, knocking him down to the ground.

Police said the suspect ran off on foot.

Moranis hurt his head, back and right hip in the attack.

According to police, Moranis "traveled by private means to an area hospital for evaluation, before reporting the incident to police at the 20th Precinct."

Moranis is best known for his roles the 1980s blockbusters "Ghostbusters," "Spaceballs," "Little Shop of Horrors," and "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" and its sequels.

"Captain America" actor Chris Evans reacted to the news of the attack tweeting, "My blood is boiling. Find this man. You don’t touch Rick Moranis."
