Attorney General Merrick Garland and Biden will also join law enforcement officials and elected officials, including Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul, at the NYPD's headquarters, One Police Plaza, and will visit community violence intervention leaders in Queens.

Biden announced last week that he will be traveling to New York City this Thursday to meet with Mayor Eric Adams and discuss strategies for curbing violence in the five boroughs, following the fatal shooting of two officers in Harlem.

White House officials said that meeting will focus on the Biden administration’s comprehensive strategy to "combat gun crime," which includes "historic levels of funding for cities and states to put more cops on the beat and invest in community violence prevention and intervention programs, as well as stepped up federal law enforcement efforts against illegal gun traffickers."

Adams has said he is looking forward to meeting with Biden to help stop a “sea of violence” in New York City.

According to The New York Post, the last president to visit the facility was former President Barack Obama, who stopped by the headquarters in 2011.

Vice President Mike Pence visited the Lower Manhattan facility in 2019 following a series of water-bucket attack on officers, the Post reported.
