NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Bronx mother was arrested and charged with attempted murder Friday after overmedicating her daughter and sending her to the hospital over 190 times, police said.

Tajahnae Brown, 23, was arrested by the Bronx Child Abuse Squad and charged with attempted murder, manslaughter, assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child, the NYPD said.

The most recent of the toddler’s near-200 hospital visits was in early May after Brown allegedly overdosed her with seizure medication, according to police.

The child was taken to Montifiore hospital in critical condition, and while at the hospital, Brown repeatedly insisted that staff give her daughter more doses of seizure medication, the NYPD said.

A blood test was conducted at the hospital that revealed the child was being poisoned.

1010 WINS/WCBS 880 spoke to Rachel Williams, a mother of a 3-year-old who lives in the same building as Brown.

“The answer is that someone do wrong to throw them in jail,” Williams said. “But I think the important part is to give her help because clearly there’s something wrong.”

The investigation was prompted by a referral police received from the Bronx DA that claimed a child was being physically abused by her mother, cops said.

Police say the child is now under foster care with family.
