NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 16-year-old boy was shot and critically injured on a Bronx street early Friday morning, hours after a bystander was shot and wounded on a street corner nearby.

The teen was in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital following the shooting in the Crotona Park East section a little before 12:50 a.m., police said.

He was on a moped at 1455 Bryant Ave. when a shooter opened fire and struck him in the neck, according to police.

The NYPD hasn't said if he was a bystander or the intended target.

No description of the shooter was immediately available.

The shooting came just hours after a 35-year-old woman was shot in the back and critically injured at East 170th Street and Franklin Avenue in Morrisania just before 4 p.m. Thursday.

She and her friends were sitting on chairs and milk crates at the corner when a man wearing a ski mask opened fire, according to police, who said she was not the intended target.

She was also taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and was in serious but stable condition by Friday morning.

Deli owner Marina Lopez said there was also a shooting on the corner last weekend.

“The second time in just one week,” she said. “It’s bad, it’s bad.”

No arrests have been reported in either shooting. Some witnesses believe the same man committed both shootings.
