NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — An MTA bus driver was attacked Sunday morning by a person wielding a paintball gun in Queens, according to a report.
The New York Post reports the 51-year-old bus driver stepped out of his bus during a break at 95th Street and Ditmars Boulevard around 3:40 a.m.
While standing outside, a car pulled up beside him and a passenger began shooting paintballs at the driver, police told the outlet.
The victim was struck in the head and body before the car fled the scene, the Post reports. He was transported to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.
It remains unclear if the attacker or the driver of the vehicle have been apprehended.
Union officials have called for more police and better protections for MTA employees in recent months, following a surge in attacks on subway workers and bus operators.
