NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Citi Field’s mass vaccination site administered its 200,000th COVID-19 vaccine dose on Tuesday.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the “amazing” milestone Wednesday, saying the Mets’ ballpark is home to the most popular city-run vaccination site in the five boroughs.
The 200,000th dose was given to Kamila Ocampo, who was featured on the Jumbotron with Mr. Met.

An average of 1,200 vaccinations are given each day at the stadium, with 94% of vaccine recipients from Queens and 27% walk-ins.
The mayor said 41% of first-dose recipients at the site were Latino and 36% were Asian.
Since May 10, 25% of the doses there have gone to young people between 12 and 17 years old.
Speaking at de Blasio’s briefing, Mets president Sandy Alderson said the organization stands ready to use the ballpark as a site to administer COVID-19 vaccine booster shots, which the FDA recently OK’d for the immunocompromised.
Queens borough president Donovan Richards told de Blasio that the vaccination site’s success was especially significant given that parts of Queens, like nearby Corona and Elmhurst, were the epicenter of the pandemic last year.
“Let’s keep hitting these grand slams for the borough,” Richards said. “Many people are taking this vaccine, and we’re bouncing back stronger than ever in the borough.”
