NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Police are searching for a sexual predator who they believe is behind three attacks on women in an upper Manhattan park over the span of just an hour on Wednesday morning.

A search for the man continued Thursday after the women were targeted at Inwood Hill Park between about 11 a.m. and noon.

The man accosted all three women with sexual comments and assaulted two of them, according to police.

One woman was punched in the face and had her phone and watch stolen, police said.

Another woman who was walking her dog was clubbed in the head and knocked unconscious, according to police, who said the man tried to pull off her shorts but fled before a passerby discovered her.

The man also threatened a third woman and her dog, according to police. She was not injured.

Police say the description of the suspect matches in all three incidents, which took place across the park, from 218th Street down to Dyckman Street.

On Thursday morning, Monica Vargas told WCBS 880 that she will not go into the park alone.

“Make sure you walk with somebody, you know, in a group of two or three, because I think two is not even enough,” she said. “But it is very shocking that this is happening around here.”

The attacks trigger memories of the 2004 murder of Juilliard student Sarah Fox in the park, Vargas said. That case has never been solved.
