NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A pop-up COVID-19 vaccination and testing site is set to open at UN Headquarters in Manhattan during next week’s high-level convening of the UN General Assembly.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and International Affairs Commissioner Penny Abeywadena issued a joint statement about the “critical” step of a vaccination requirement of those entering the UN General Assembly hall next week.
“As we prepare for High-Level week, New York City stands ready to support our partners at the United Nations with testing and vaccine resources,” the statement said.
The city will open the joint vaccination and testing site at UN HQ next week, where COVID-19 tests will be free and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be offered, also free.
“We are proud to join in the ongoing efforts to keep all UNGA attendees and our fellow New Yorkers during the pandemic,” the statement continued.
