In a statement, a state police spokesperson confirmed detectives are searching Waveny Park "out of an abundance of caution to explore every avenue related to the case."

Jennifer Dulos has not been seen since she disappeared after dropping her kids off at school in May 2019. Her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, was charged with murder and kidnapping in the case.

He took his own life in January 2020 and insisted he was innocent in a suicide note found near his body.

Fotis Dulos’ former girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, also faces charges in connection to Jennifer's alleged murder and disappearance.

"These follow-ups are standard procedure as our detectives thoroughly investigate any and all leads," the spokesperson added.

Brian Foley, an aide to state police commissioner James Rovella, said Major Crimes detectives and K-9s are involved in Monday's search.

Police used an excavator during a similar search in January of a home once owned by Fotis Dulos in Farmington, Connecticut.

While a death certificate has not been issued since Jennifer's body has not been recovered, Connecticut's chief medical examiner, Dr. James Gill, said the large quantity of blood found in Jennifer's New Canaan home meant the then 50-year-old likely sustained an injury "non-survivable without medical intervention."
