NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo is set to be questioned this weekend by investigators from the state's attorney general’s office regarding allegations that he sexually harassed current and former female aides, the New York Times reported on Thursday.

According to the outlet, two outside lawyers, who were hired by state Attorney General Letitia James, are set to interview Cuomo in Albany on Saturday.

The lawyers, Joon H. Kim, and Anne L. Clark, have spent four months collecting testimony from multiple women who have accused Cuomo of sexual misconduct or harassment and have recently interviewed senior administration officials in preparation to question the governor.

Former federal prosecutor Laurie Levenson said this likely means the investigation is in its final stages.

"They wait until the end of the investigation to interview the target because they want to make sure that they have the most information possible when they hear his side of the story," Levenson said.

Cuomo has denied any wrongdoing and his office claims the attorney general, a fellow democrat, is politically biased.

"We have said repeatedly that the governor doesn’t want to comment on this review until he has cooperated," Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi told the Times.

Many politicians have called Cuomo to resign while others have been in a holding pattern waiting for the results of this and other probes around the governor's handling of nursing homes, possible preferential treatment in COVID tests and his book deal.
