NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — With just five days to go before early voting begins in New York City, Eric Adams has jumped in front of the field of Democratic candidates for mayor.

The latest NY1/Ipsos survey finds the Brooklyn Borough President with a six point lead in the Democratic primary, with 22% support among likely voters.

“Eric Adams’ campaign for mayor continues to build momentum as we enter the last two weeks of the race—and it is clear New Yorkers feel that he is the best candidate to keep them safe and deliver a fairer, more affordable city,” said campaign spokesperson Madia Coleman. “It’s simple: as more voters learn more about Eric Adams, more plan to vote for him on Election Day."

Former 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang comes in second with 16%.

Former Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia jumped to third place with 15% followed by City Comptroller Scott Stringer with 10%.

None of the other candidates managed to break double digits.

Early voting begins this Saturday. The primary is June 22.

The next Democratic debate is this Thursday and you can hear it live starting at 7 p.m. on WCBS Newsradio 880.
