Ice cream truck careens off cliff in New Jersey

FORT LEE, N.J. (WCBS 880) — An ice cream truck driver survived a terrifying crash in Fort Lee on Thursday.

Authorities said the driver somehow lost control on Henry Hudson Drive around 4 p.m., veering off the road and down a cliff.

The truck cashed into a grouping of trees 20 feet below and flipped on its side.

Good Samaritans assisted the 22-year-old driver from Toms River, who walked away with head and neck pain.

The ice cream truck is operated by Lexylicious.

In a statement posted to Instagram the company thanked the bystanders who helped the driver after the crash.
