NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was stabbed outside a Lower East Side subway station on Wednesday morning, police said as they searched for his attacker.

The 34-year-old victim was stabbed in the neck and lower back around 5:30 a.m. at 114 Delancey St., just outside the Delancey Street/Essex Street station, according to police, who clarified earlier reports that the stabbing was inside the station.

The victim and his attacker are known to each other and were arguing at the time of the assault, police said.

The victim was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was in stable condition.

The stabber fled the station to the street and remained at large Wednesday.
