NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police have made an arrest in the killing of a neighborhood cat that was mauled to death by two pit bulls in Brooklyn last month.
NYPD Chief of Department Rodney Harrison said the black and white cat, named Tuxedo, was "intentionally targeted and killed" by the dogs' owner at NYCHA’s Breukelen Houses in Canarsie on Jan. 13.
According to the New York Post, a man knocked Tuxedo out of a tree and then sat "idly by" as he sicced his dogs on the cat.
On Monday, Harrison announced 28-year-old Fulton Gordon had been arrested in the animal cruelty case.
He reportedly faces a misdemeanor charge of torturing, injuring or not feeding an animal.
The Post says Tuxedo lived at the public housing complex for 10 years and was lovingly known as the "mayor" of the community.
