Brooklyn man arrested in connection to repeated burglaries of synagogue

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A man is under arrest for allegedly targeting and stealing over $2,000 from a Brooklyn synagogue.

The NYPD announced the arrest of Carlos Duckworth, 38, of Brooklyn Thursday, on two counts each of burglary, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal trespass.

The first incident happened at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24 when the suspect entered the Congregation Israel of Kings B Synagogue in Sheepshead Bay by breaking a rear window.

The suspect took approximately $600 dollars from a donation box and fled on foot to parts unknown, officials said.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, the suspect entered the same synagogue by breaking a rear window and stole approximately $750 dollars from a donation box before fleeing on foot to parts unknown, the NYPD said.

Days later, on Sunday, Dec. 5, just before 1 a.m., the suspect again entered the same synagogue by breaking a rear window.

The suspect took $850 dollars from a donation box and fled on foot to parts unknown.
