The deadly encounter happened around 4:45 p.m. at the Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street subway station in Jackson Heights, police said.

An innocuous bump sparked a fight between the 48-year-old victim and a 50-year-old man, whose phone fell onto the tracks.

The 48-year-old was either shoved or fell onto the tracks, where he was struck by a northbound F train, police said.

Emergency responders transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he died.

He was later identified as Heriberto Quintana, of Queens.

The other man was arrested at the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
