NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police are searching for a suspect who last week followed a 25-year-old woman into a building in Brooklyn and strangled her.

It happened in a dwelling near Ocean and Parkside avenues, just outside of Prospect Park, at about 11 p.m. on Thursday.

The woman was entering the building when the suspect approached her from behind and wrapped his arm around her neck.

Police said that the victim began screaming “stop” and “help,” prompting the assailant to tell her to “shut up” and let her go.

She refused medical attention at the scene, officials said.

The suspect fled the location on foot.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
