NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A man spat on an MTA bus driver before hitting him in the head with a piece of wood and knocking him unconscious in Brooklyn on Tuesday, police said.
The 57-year-old driver was operating a bus at Clarkson and Remsen avenues in East Flatbush around 9 a.m. when he was spat on by a passenger who was exiting the bus, according to police.
The bus driver followed the man off the bus and the two of them got into an argument, police said.
The man then picked up a piece of wood lying on the ground and struck the driver in the head with it before fleeing down Remsen Avenue, according to police.
The bus driver was seriously injured and suffered a contusion and loss of consciousness, police said.
He was taken by EMS to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD released video of the suspect on Wednesday. They believe he’s about 20 years old.
