NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The NYPD is searching for a man who pistol-whipped a worker and stole thousands of dollars in cash during a robbery at a Queens smoke shop last week.
The robbery happened on Oct. 11 at around 10:15 p.m. when the unidentified man went into the smoke shop located at 150-19 Cross Bay Blvd. in Ozone Park, immediately showing his gun.
The suspect, described as a man with a light complexion and medium build, forcibly emptied the cash register, stealing nearly $3,000 in cash, police said.
After emptying the cash register, the robber turned and hit the victim in the head with the end of his gun before running away in a white SUV, according to police.
The SUV was last seen heading southbound on Cross Bay Boulevard.
Eyewitnesses provided a description of the suspect, who was seen wearing a black facemask, black hoodie, black sweatpants, and black sneakers during the robbery
