MTA launches COVID-19 vaccination site locator on Live Subway Map

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — If you’re traveling to your COVID-19 vaccine appointment by subway, the MTA has a new tool to ensure your trip goes smoothly.

On Monday, the agency launched a new feature on its Live Subway Map showing the exact locations of COVID-19 vaccination sites, so customers can plan their trips ahead of time.

"We know that many New Yorkers rely on public transit to get to a vaccination site," said New York City Transit Interim President Sarah Feinberg. "Just as we did by launching new bus routes in Queens and Brooklyn last week, this new feature represents yet another way in which New York City Transit is thinking outside the box to make sure that the people of this city can seamlessly access the vaccination sites."

The map, which launched in October 2020, will show riders how close vaccination sites are to subway stations, so that residents can select the most convenient site for themselves.

“We're proud to play a small role in helping untold numbers of New Yorkers find out how to get up to date, accurate subway directions to their vaccination sites,” said MTA Chief Customer Officer Sarah Meyer.

She notes that more sites will be added to the map as they open, and the MTA will continue to update eligibility information as well.

The Live Subway Map and the new vaccination site locator update were designed entirely pro bono by Work & Co, a Brooklyn-based technology and design firm.

The map updates in real time to show New Yorkers real-time changes to subway routes, moving trains and accessibility equipment.
