NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – New York’s “Vax and Scratch” program, which provides free state lottery tickets to eligible people who get vaccinated, will extend to 10 more mass vaccination sites next week, giving people another shot at the $5 million grand prize.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday that the 10 new participating sites (listed below) will be open for walk-ins and appointments from Monday, June 7 through Friday, June 11. They include one site in New York City, two on Long Island and two in the Hudson Valley.
While the “Vax and Scratch” ticket has a first prize of $5 million, there are a number of prizes that go down to $20. The tickets will be provided for free to people 18 years and older who get their first dose of Pfizer or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at one of the sites.
"A robust vaccination program is a vital cornerstone of New York's efforts to rebuild our economy, and the state is implementing creative strategies to convince residents and families to get vaccinated for COVID-19," Cuomo said in a statement. "This potential $5 million grand prize for getting vaccinated is the latest salvo in our campaign to convince New Yorkers to take the shot, and we're extending it to give even more people a chance at a winning ticket."
