NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A registered sex offender was arrested again on Monday after allegedly trying to entice both a 12-year-old and 9-year-old girl.

According to Audrey Strauss, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Steve Rosado, a registered sex offender, had spent weeks allegedly trying to engage in sexual activity with multiple minors.

“Steve Rosado allegedly attempted to harm society’s most vulnerable – trying to engage in sexual activity with two young children, whom he believed to be 12 and 9 years old – even after he had been convicted of sex offenses in the past and required to register as a sex offender,” Strauss said. “I thank the FBI and the NYPD for their work in investigating and arresting Rosado before he could harm any more victims.”

The criminal complaint says the Rosado began engaging in conversation with an undercover FBI agent, who was posing as the mother of a 12-year-old and 9-year-old girl, on Nov. 29.

During his conversations with the undercover agent, Rosado repeatedly expressed, in graphic terms, his desire to engage in sexual activity with both children.

Rosado allegedly sent results for a negative COVID-19 and HIV test to the agent, to alleviate any concerns the “mother” might have about allowing him into the home.

The criminal complaint also shows graphic text messages Rosado allegedly had with the agent in which he expressed a desire to impregnant the 12-year-old girl.

Rosado was arrested when he arrived at a Manhattan bar on Monday, where he met up with the undercover agent – who he still believed was the mother. The two left the bar to go to the agent’s purported apartment and Rosado was arrested.

He is charged with one count of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity and one count of committing the aforementioned offense while being required to register as a sex offender.
