City-run sites began administering Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to children on Thursday, days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention signed off on two-dose shots for kids.

At his daily briefing, Mayor Bill de Blasio said children will get $100 if they get their first dose at a city-run site.

“The day is here, we’ve been waiting for this day,” de Blasio said. “What a watershed moment this is, a historic day this is, for our city that our youngest New Yorkers can now get vaccinated.”

The city has already been offering $100 to teens and adults who get their first dose at a city-run site.

“We really want kids to take advantage, families to take advantage of that,” de Blasio said. “Everyone could use a little more money around the holidays, but most importantly we want our kids and our families to be safe.”

De Blasio said parents can make an appointment at city-run sites by calling 212-COVID19 or by visiting nyc.gov/vaccinefinder. The sites are also accepting walk-in appointments.

The mayor said kid vaccines would also be available at places like pediatricians offices and pharmacies.
