LOWER MANHATTAN, NEW YORK - Nov. 2
The cross is placed atop the marble dome of the St. Nicholas Church And National Shrine on November 2, 2021 in New York City. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, members of the church, Port Authority Police and New York City Police officers participated in the ceremony at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, the only house of worship destroyed on 9/11. Rebuilt as a National Shrine, it was designed by the world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava and sits atop Liberty Park overlooking the Memorial Pools and the 9/11 Museum.
