NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Employees at Twitter’s New York office in Manhattan are complaining that basic custodial needs aren’t being met after Elon Musk slashed facilities staff in an attempt to save money.

His decision not to renegotiate contracts with facilities workers who cleaned the building and kept supplies stocked has resulted in filthy bathrooms, unaddressed clogged toilets and a toilet paper shortage, Insider reported.

The situation has become so dire that the stench from the bathrooms is seeping into hallways and work spaces, anonymous employees told the outlet.

Despite the poor working conditions, employees are still being forced to work out of the office on Musk’s orders. Before he took control of the company, staff were allowed to work from home.

This isn’t Twitter’s first run in with unsanitary working conditions since the former richest man in the world bought the company in October.

Staff at the San Francisco headquarters were forced to bring their own toilet paper from home after Musk cut janitorial staff there, the New York Times reported.

The state of disarray in the office paired with Musk’s decision to cut benefits, health care and in-office perks has reportedly led to plummeting morale at the company.
