NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Two newborn baby boys were found dead in the Bronx on Monday afternoon, according to police.

According to Deputy Chief Timothy McCormack, the two infants were found at around 1:45 p.m. in the rear of 1460 College Avenue, in the Claremont section of the borough.

Police say EMS found the infants unconscious, and transported them to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

McCormack stressed that very little was known about the infants as of 4:30 p.m.

“This is very, very early on in our investigation and we’re asking the public for help,” he said.

Anyone with information regarding the two newborns is encouraged to call the NYPD’s tip line at 1-800-577-TIPS.

The Medical Examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.

Authorities did not confirm if the newborns were twins, but did say both victims were male.

It remains unclear if the infants were related to anyone who lives at the address where their bodies were discovered.
