NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An NYPD lieutenant suffered a head injury after he was clipped by a driver who blew past a checkpoint in the Bronx early Saturday morning, according to police.

The driver of a black Dodge Durango hit the officer on the Bronx side of the University Heights bridge around 3:50 a.m. and sped off, according to officials.

As the driver blew past the checkpoint, his side-view mirror hit the lieutenant, causing him to fall to the ground, authorities said.

He reportedly suffered a non-life-threatening head injury, and was brought to a local hospital for treatment.

Police have not yet arrested a suspect for the hit-and-run incident.
