
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Police are searching for a man who allegedly yelled anti-Asian remarks while menacing a 65-year-old woman in midtown Manhattan on Friday.
The woman was on W. 40th Street, between Seventh and Eighth avenues, at 4 p.m. when the man came up and started shouting anti-Asian statements at her, police said.
The man then waved an unknown object at the woman, causing her to fear for her safety, according to police.
No injuries were reported.
The NYPD said its Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident as a case of hate crime menacing.
The department released an image of the suspect pushing a stroller down a sidewalk.
