NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- An off-duty officer working security at an Upper West Side pharmacy shot a suspect after he stabbed a man during a dispute Friday morning.
Police said the officer was working at a Duane Reade at West 94th St. and Amsterdam Ave. when he saw two men in a dispute just after 7 a.m.
The officer told the men to "take it outside" but they continued with the argument, the NYPD said.
According to police, one of the men, began acting erratically and stabbed the other man.
The 66-year-old victim, suffered stabs wounds to the arm and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

The officer approached the 42-year-old attacker who then lunged at him with a knife, authorities said.
The off-duty officer then discharged his weapon, striking the suspect in the hip and arm, officials said.
A nearby resident said she heard three shots ring out.
"Three shots — bam, bam, bam — just like that and I knew it was a gun," said Denise Matea who lives at 94th and Amsterdam.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
A knife was recovered on the scene.

The officer was treated for ringing in his ears.
The cause of the dispute remains unknown and an investigation remains ongoing.
