NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A thief in an Amazon vest punched a man in the face after he was confronted for stealing packages at an apartment building in Queens, police said.

The NYPD released images Thursday of the masked suspect wearing an Amazon vest and carrying packages inside the building at 74th Street and 44th Avenue in Elmhurst on the morning of Nov. 9.

Police said he removed multiple packages from the common area of the building and then went into a garage there.

While in the garage, he was confronted by a 49-year-old employee of the building.

The thief punched the worker in the face, police said. The two men then fought before the suspect fled the scene.

The worker suffered a minor injury and refused medical attention.

The suspect was last seen headed northbound on 74th Street towards Woodside Avenue. There’s no indication the suspect is an actual Amazon worker.

Police said the total value of the stolen items wasn’t immediately known.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
