Person of interest in custody after man, 34, found shot on Bronx street: police

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Police have a person of interest in custody after a man was found fatally shot on a Bronx street early Friday, authorities said.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a man shot near the corner of East Gun Hill Road and Webster Avenue in Norwood, officials said.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the torso.

EMS transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 36-year-old man person of interest was taken into custody in the vicinity of the incident location, officials said.

Police also recovered a firearm from the location.

The investigation remains ongoing.
