There were over 160 people at the club on 243rd Street, near Mayda Road, at 2:45 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office, which said people were accessing the location via a rear alley.

Photos tweeted by the sheriff’s office show crowds of people close together, drinking and smoking hookah without masks on.

The gathering was in violation of restrictions imposed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to help control the spread of the coronavirus, the sheriff said.

The club also had no liquor license and that officers observed fire and health code violations there, according to the sheriff.

Five people, including organizers, were charged with multiple offenses.
