FARMINGTON, Conn. (WCBS 880) — Four people were killed Thursday morning when a plane crashed into an industrial building in Connecticut, authorities said.

According to officials, two pilots and two passengers aboard a Cessna Citation 560XL business jet were killed when the aircraft crashed into the Trumpf building on Hyde Road in Farmington around 10 a.m.

Photos from the scene showed a massive police and fire response and an extensive fire in one section of the building.

Firefighters at the scene appeared to have put the flames out by 11 a.m.

Farmington Police officials told reporters that the business jet took off from Robertson Airport and hit the ground first before sliding into the Trumpf building.

The plane was headed to Dare County Regional Airport in North Carolina.

It remains unclear what caused the plane to go down. The National Safety Transportation Board will investigate.

Officials did confirm that all employees inside the building were accounted for. It does not appear that anyone inside the structure was hurt.

Several roads in the area are closed, including Hyde Road, Spring Lane and Johnson Avenue. Residents are asked to avoid the area.
