NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A Brooklyn mother was charged with attempted murder and other crimes after her two young children were thrown out of a window in Brooklyn, leaving the kids hospitalized.
Police responded to the incident at an apartment building on Rockaway Parkway, near Winthrop Street, in Brownsville around 11 a.m. Saturday.
Police told WCBS-TV that the 24-year-old mother threw her month-old daughter and 2-year-old son out of a second-story window before jumping herself.
A neighbor, Carl Chin, told the station that he called 911 and then had to struggle to take the baby girl from the mother, who he said continued to harm the infant after jumping.
The baby girl was hospitalized in critical condition, while the toddler boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The mother, Dejhanay Jarrell, was charged with two counts each of attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment, according to the report.
