NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Police are searching for a woman who shoved another woman onto subway tracks in the Bronx on Tuesday morning.

The NYPD released surveillance video Wednesday showing the suspect outside the 174th Street 2/5 line station in Crotona Park East.

Police said the 54-year-old victim was on a platform around 7:50 a.m. when another woman came up and pushed her onto the track roadbed.

The victim suffered cuts and bruising to her hands and pain to her body but was able to pull herself off the tracks with the help of a man. She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.

Police said the suspect left the station and fled northbound on Southern Boulevard. She was also seen inside of a bodega on Southern Boulevard shortly after the incident.

The attack was the latest incident of subway violence this year.

NYC Transit Interim President Sarah Feinberg released a statement, saying, “How many more times can we say this? While we appreciate the partnership of the NYPD and our own police, these kinds of unprovoked attacks tend to have mental illness as the root cause. The City simply has to do more -- and quickly.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
