NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — New York City's newest observation deck officially opened Thursday, promising more than just spectacular views of the iconic skyline.

Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin and mayoral candidate and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony of SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, which the creators describe as a "story-driven, immersive experience" located in the crown of the city's newest skyscraper.

The new observation deck joins the ranks of the Empire State Building and One World Observatory, but this tourist attraction features disorienting mirrored floors and ceilings intended to make visitors feel as if they're floating on air.

The mind-bending, mirrored airy can be accessed through the Vanderbilt passage of Grand Central Terminal.

Visitors are then whisked up in a glass elevator to a narrow portal, aptly named Transcendence, that opens into a four-story observation deck with multiple rooms, including one called Affinity, which is filled with dozens of large silver balloons that float around thanks to strategically placed fans.

For the very brave or daring, there are two all-glass boxes that jut out from the sides of the skyscraper 1,200-feet above Madison Avenue, letting visitors watch the cars way down below on the street.

The site's outdoor café is a creation of famed restauranteur Danny Meyer.

The entry fee is $39 and visitors must provide proof of vaccination.
