Teen on scooter dies after struck by Jeep in Upper Manhattan

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Authorities are investigating after a Jeep struck and killed a teen on a scooter at an Upper Manhattan intersection Thursday afternoon.

The FDNY received a call at about 1:30 p.m. for a pedestrian struck at W. 185th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Hudson Heights.

The teen was ejected from the scooter and suffered a major head injury, officials said. He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he died.

The jeep driver remained on the scene, according to the NYPD.

An investigation is ongoing.
