NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A tourist from Ohio was shot and wounded inside a 7-Eleven in Midtown following an argument with another man over the weekend.
Gunfire erupted inside the store near 37th Street and Eighth Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
The 41-year-old victim was hit in the thigh and is expected to survive.
The alleged shooter is in custody.
In a tweet Sunday night, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea credited two officers for the quick arrest.
"Once again, your local NYPD officers going into harm’s way to take armed criminals off NYC streets," Shea wrote.
It's not clear what prompted the argument that led to the shooting.
WCBS-TV reports the suspect is facing numerous charges including attempted murder.
This was the third Midtown shooting incident involving a tourist in the last month.
